UMFST is a state university in the Romanian city of Targu Mures in the region of Transylvania.

The UMFST extension from Germany, located in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld and covering more than 6,000 m², has excellent teaching and learning infrastructure, such as a virtual anatomy and dissection table, as well as high-tech lecture halls, seminar rooms, and laboratories. All teaching rooms are equipped with several high-definition cameras, which means that the individual events are broadcast live and recorded to be repeated as often as desired.
UMFST offers students in the Hamburg study program a high-caliber, practical, and science-oriented education in an international environment. In addition to knowledge transfer from experienced academic staff, medical training at UMFST-UMCH and its partner hospitals in Europe (Germany, Spain, Italy) strongly emphasises developing social skills. After all, having an outstanding personality is essential in the journey to becoming a doctor, along with the close integration of basic theoretical subjects with clinical practice.
The theoretical content is taught in English at the UMFST extension in Hamburg. At the same time, the clinical-practical portion of the program, starting from the third year, is conducted in German and English within a nationwide network of partner hospitals.

More than 3,500 students are enrolled in the university’s bachelor’s degree programs; others are participating in master’s or doctoral programs. Numerous resident doctors from all medical specialties are also under the guidance of teaching staff in the university clinics of Târgu Mureș.
